NEW! Actors Workshop on Firearms Safety & Handling
As an actor, you shouldn't have to worry about your safety with firearms while you should be concentrating on your acting. Past incidents have illustrated what can happen if something goes wrong - and it is usually the actor who is the first person hurt. Don't let this happen to you. This unique workshop is a rare opportunity to learn about firearms safety and handling from one of the acknowledged experts in the field. Firearms Safety in Film and Television Production
Taught by a working professional firearms trainer, this one- or two-day workshop is designed to introduce production crews to the authentic use of firearms and how to accomplish gun scenes safely. It illustrates the hazards in filming with firearms and the proper steps needed to control those risks. It demonstrates how to apply due diligence and still get the shot you need. It also includes information on the acquisition and use of firearms by the industry in Canada and shows how technology can now achieve what was once impossible.

Shotguns for Bear Defense: Wilderness Shotgun Techniques that Work
Working in remote areas is serious business. Out there in the wilderness means you're working in the back yard of some pretty dangerous animals ... and in their yard, sometimes trespassers get eaten. The use of firearms for wildlife defence is not to be taken lightly and is certainly not the place for techniques adapted from target sports or law enforcement. This one- to two-day shotgun workshop is designed for shooters and non-shooters alike and it will show you the correct way to handle shotguns under stress. It covers safety, loading, unloading, reloading, speedloading, shooting while moving and switching ammunition types. Custom-designed for employees of each client, the workshop can be structured with any combination of classroom or shooting range work.

There are a LOT of myths out there on the use of shotguns in wilderness areas, and this workshop concentrates on simple skills that have been proven to work by average persons in real-life situations. This workshop has been taught for several government agencies and is now considered mandatory for certain employees working in remote areas.

Canadian Firearms Safety Course
This two- to three-day Canadian Firearms Safety Course is designed to meet safety training requirments for firearms licence applicants in Canada. As one of the subject-matter experts who helped design the program, Dave Brown now delivers this course EXCLUSIVELY to organized groups and government agencies in Manitoba. It focuses on the professional use of non-restricted firearms like rifles and shotguns, and uses a combination of lecture, video, demonstration and hands-on practice. The course includes delivery in the client's own workplaceand written and practical testing.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course
The one-day Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course is available as an option to groups in Manitoba who have completed the above Canadian Firearms Safety Course. It deals specifically with the professional use of handguns, and meets all safety training requirements for applicants of restricted firearm licences.

Train-the-Trainer Course
This two-day workshop is designed to teach and enhance presentation skills, training course delivery methods and public speaking techniques. It can be delivered as a certificate course by the sponsoring organization and grades attendees on participation and presentation skills. With over fifteen years experience as a professional instructor and training course designer, Dave Brown can help make anyone feel more comfortable about delivering presentations.

Mental Skills in Competition Pistol
Dave uses his background in sport psychology to illustrate how to put some of those principles of psychology to work in target shooting. He discusses goal setting, the use of imagery and how to use positive thinking to turn negatives into benefits.

Tactical Shotgun Workshop
The shotgun is one of the most versatile and effective defensive weapons in law enforcement. With modern training methods and sound scientific techniques, Emergency Response Team in actionthe shotgun can work far more effectively under stress than was ever thought possible. Participants in the Tactical Shotgun Workshop learn combat-proven methods in marksmanship, speedshooting and tactical reloading. The emphasis is on simple, common sense techniques that work for everyone, regardless of previous experience with the shotgun. This one-day workshop also includes shotgun safety, loading & unloading, the ready conditons, transitioning to a pistol, shooting from cover, shooting while moving and the physiological and psychological effects of stress on the human body. Optional topics can include the newest less-than-lethal force ammunition options.

Advanced Pistol Workshop
This advanced pistol workshop is designed around the specific needs of each agency. Training topics can include: range safety, the draw from the holster, basic marksmanship. multiple targets, reloads, jam-clearing, speed shooting, close-quarters combat, close personal protection, shooting from cover, shooting while moving, shooting while disabled, low-light shooting and the latest in electronic sight technology. Training always acknowledges the physiological responses of the human body to stress and discusses the moral and legal justifications for the employment of deadly force. Each workshop is custom-designed for a specific issue firearm, from revolvers to semi-automatics.
