Actors
Workshop on Firearms Safety & Handling
As an actor, you shouldn't have to worry about your safety with
firearms while you should be concentrating on your acting. Past
incidents have illustrated what can happen if something goes
wrong - and it is usually the actor who is the first person hurt.
Don't let this happen to you. This unique workshop is a rare
opportunity to learn about firearms safety and handling from
one of the acknowledged experts in the field. Designed to give
you the confidence and knowledge you need to judge when your
safety is being handled properly, it includes valuable insider
tips on authenticity plus real-life experience firing real handguns
in a safe environment.
The
group size is kept small and this workshop is only offered once
per year. Click here for workshop dates.
This
is the best workshop I have EVER attended! - Actor and

Firearms
Safety in Film and Television Production
Taught by a working professional firearms trainer, this one-
or two-day workshop is designed to introduce production crews
to the authentic use of firearms and how to accomplish gun scenes
safely. It illustrates the hazards in filming with firearms and
the proper steps needed to control those risks. It demonstrates
how to apply due diligence and still get the shot you need. It
also includes information on the acquisition and use of firearms
by the industry in Canada and shows how technology can now achieve
what was once impossible.
Outstanding!
Dave was informative and industry very specific. Not possible
to find a more effective workshop. - Workshop participant
Shotguns
for Bear Defense: Wilderness Shotgun Techniques that Work
Working in remote areas is serious business. Out there in the
wilderness means you're working in the back yard of some pretty
dangerous animals ... and in their yard, sometimes trespassers
get eaten. The use of firearms for wildlife defence is not to
be taken lightly and is certainly not the place for techniques
adapted from target sports or law enforcement. This one- to two-day
shotgun workshop is designed for shooters and non-shooters alike
and it will show you the correct way to handle shotguns under
stress. It covers safety, loading, unloading, reloading, speedloading,
shooting while moving and switching ammunition types. Custom-designed
for employees of each client, the workshop can be structured
with any combination of classroom or shooting range work.
There
are a LOT of myths out there on the use of shotguns in wilderness
areas, and this workshop concentrates on simple skills
that have been proven to work by average persons
in real-life situations. This workshop has been taught
for several government agencies and is now considered mandatory
for certain employees working in remote areas.
Our
employees are the best trained/prepared in the use of firearms
in the field. This is what I hear our employees are being told
by other workers they meet. - Regional Occupational Health
and Safety Adviser, Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Mental
Skills in Competition Pistol
Dave uses his background in sport psychology to illustrate how
to put some of those principles of psychology to work in target
shooting. He discusses goal setting, the use of imagery and how
to use positive thinking to turn negatives into benefits.
Tactical Workshops
NOTE:
The following workshops are taught ONLY to legitimate law enforcement
and government agencies:
Tactical
Shotgun Workshop
The
shotgun is one of the most versatile and effective defensive
weapons in law enforcement. With modern training methods and
sound scientific techniques, the
shotgun can work far more effectively under stress than was ever
thought possible. Participants in the Tactical Shotgun Workshop
learn combat-proven methods in marksmanship, speedshooting and
tactical reloading. The emphasis is on simple, common sense techniques
that work for everyone, regardless of previous experience with
the shotgun. This one-day workshop also includes shotgun safety,
loading & unloading, the ready conditons, transitioning to
a pistol, shooting from cover, shooting while moving and the
physiological and psychological effects of stress on the human
body. Optional topics can include the newest less-than-lethal
force ammunition options.
When
Dave designed our shotgun training for us, he showed us this
new way of speedloading the shotgun and we knew right away that
this method would work for us. It's quick, it's smooth and -
most important - it's dead reliable. - Head of Training, Manitoba
Corrections - Blue Line Magazine, December 2004
Advanced
Pistol Workshop
This advanced pistol workshop is designed around the specific
needs of each agency. Training topics can include: range safety,
the draw from the holster, basic marksmanship. multiple targets,
reloads, jam-clearing, speed shooting, close-quarters combat,
close personal protection, shooting from cover, shooting while
moving, shooting while disabled, low-light shooting and the latest
in electronic sight technology. Training always acknowledges
the physiological responses of the human body to stress and discusses
the moral and legal justifications for the employment of deadly
force. Each workshop is custom-designed for a specific issue
firearm, from revolvers to semi-automatics.
By
the end of the day many felt more confident in their ability
to react correctly and effectively should they ever be forced
to use their weapon. They also felt a sense of confidence in
each other's ability should they ever be faced with the "What
if" factor. - Base Commander, Canadian Forces Base
