Artistic Director Pedro Aurelio PEDRO AURELIO is the founder and Artistic Director of Bolero Dance Theatre. He started his ballet and Spanish dance training in Puerto Rico, continuing in St. Petersburg, Russia and Washington, D.C. He performed with the Spanish Dance Society in such venues as the Kennedy Center and the Museum of Natural History in New York. He trained in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Professional Division, where he received the Paddy Stone Choreographic Award in 1994 and the Doreen McDonald Award for costume design in 1997. His performance credits with the RWB include Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Swan Lake, and Romeo and Juliet.

Pedro Aurelio has furthered his Spanish dance training through classes with Claudia Carolina (Toronto), Oscar Nieto (Vancouver), Esmeralda Enrique (Toronto), and Manolete (Spain), among others. In January 2002, he choreographed and danced several works with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He travels to Spain annually to study escuela bolera, classical Spanish, and flamenco with Beatriz Barcelo, Pilar Azorin, Carlos Vilan, Mamen Tejedor, and Eloy Pericet.

As Artistic Director of BDT, Pedro Aurelio choreographs all works for the company and designs both costumes and sets. He has taught and choreographed for the RWB School, Rusalka Dance Ensemble, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Bravado Dance Studio, the Spanish Club of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Dance Force, and Alaska's Anchorage Ballet Academy. He holds a B.A. in theatre design and a B.Ed. from the University of Winnipeg.



Musical Director Duncan McGregor DUNCAN McGREGOR is the Musical Director of Bolero Dance Theatre. His formal musical studies began with jazz guitar at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. His playing experience covers a variety of styles, including jazz, folk, Celtic, rock, and flamenco. His flamenco studies began in Winnipeg and continued with teachers in Toronto, Los Angeles, Spain, and England. He teaches guitar and plays cello, Spanish laud (lute), and Arabic oud.

Some of Duncan's performing credits include roles as cellist, vocalist, and guitarist in numerous Fringe Festival productions, and as cellist with the Winnipeg Mandolin Orchestra. He has accompanied countless dance performances, including that of Spain's flamenco artist Carmen de Torres. As Musical Director for the company, he sings, arranges, and performs various styles of flamenco, escuela bolera, and traditional Spanish music.
