Human Characters
This page is dedicated to the major human characters who live in the Babylon 5 universe. Warning, there are possible spoilers here so please read at your own risk. I'll try not to give away too much.
Here is a listing of the characters on this page:
John Sheridan ~ Jeffrey Sinclair ~ Susan Ivanova
Michael Garibaldi ~ Stephen Franklin ~ Elizabeth Lochley Zack Allen ~ Marcus Cole ~ Lyta Alexander Alfred Bester ~ Talia Winters ~ Morden John Sheridan
Captain John Sheridan joined the crew of Babylon 5 in 2259, replacing Commander Sinclair. In 2260, Babylon 5 seceded from Earth and
there was a change of uniforms, this being an example. In late 2261, the Interplanetary Alliance was formed, with
Sheridan as President. That same year he also married Delenn, of the Minbari. Here is a photo of President John Sheridan. Sheridan was played by actor Bruce Boxleitner.
Jeffrey Sinclair
Commander Jeffrey Sinclair was the first Commanding Officer of Babylon 5. He was sent to Minbar in 2259 to act as Ambassador for Earth. He ended up re-forming the Rangers
and would eventually become Valen after the events involving Babylon 4 in late 2260. Sinclair was played by actor Michael O'Hare.
Susan Ivanova
Ivanova was Commander of Babylon 5 from 2259 to the end of 2261, where she left the station to command her own ship after the death of Marcus Cole. Ivanova was played by actress Claudia Christian.
Michael Garibaldi
Michael Garibaldi was Security Chief of Babylon 5 until early 2261, when he resigned, due to being under the control of Bester.
After he was freed of his clutches, Garibaldi ended up becoming Head of Covert Operations for the Interplanetary Alliance in 2262. The end of that year he left Babylon
5 for Mars with his future wife, Lise Hampton, to form his own business. Here are photos of Garibaldi and his steady hair loss, seasons two, three, four and five. Garibaldi was played by actor Jerry Doyle.
Stephen Franklin
Dr. Stephen Franklin ran Med Lab on Babylon 5. His specialty is xenobiology and he left the station in 2262 to head the xenobiology lab at Earth Dome. Franklin was played by Richard Biggs.
Elizabeth Lochley
Captain Lochley replaced Commander Ivanova as the Commanding Officer of Babylon 5 in 2262. A key reason she was chosen for the role by President Sheridan was because she fought on the side of Earth when President Clark was in power.
Lochley was played by actress Elizabeth Scoggins.
Zack Allen
Zack Allen replaced Michael Garibaldi as Security Chief of Babylon 5 in 2261 after Garibaldi's resignation. Zack continued to fulfill his duties as Security Chief until Babylon 5 was decomissioned twenty years later in 2282.
Zack Allen was played by actor Jeff Conaway.
Marcus Cole
Ranger Marcus Cole first appeared in 2260 and was integral in both the Shadow War and the war against Earth. In late 2261, Marcus gave his life for a critically wounded Ivanova. Marcus was played by actor Jason Carter.
Lyta Alexander
Lyta Alexander was one of the first commercial telepaths on Babylon 5 back in 2257, but she was recalled back to Earth a few weeks after being the first human to see a Vorlon, Kosh. She returned to Babylon 5 in 2259 after leaving the Psi-Corps, but ended up rejoining them in 2261. In 2262 she made a deal with Garibaldi: if he funnels money into an account so she
can strike back against the Corps, she'd remove the mental block in Garibaldi's head that prevents him from killing Bester. Lyta Alexander was played by actress Patricia Tallman.
Alfred Bester
Little is known about the Psi-Cop Bester, except that he's nefarious and seemingly one step ahead of everyone else. In 2261 he had influence over Garibaldi, but released him from his clutches when he was through with him. Bester was played by actor Walter Koenig.
Talia Winters
Talia Winters was the replacement Psi-Corps telepath for Lyta Alexander in 2258. It was discovered that Talia was a spy in 2259 by Lyta, and Talia left Babylon 5 to return to Earth, never to be heard from again. Talia Winters was played by actress Andrea Thompson.
Morden
Mr. Morden was a crew member of the ill-fated exploratory ship Icarus, whose crew also included Anna Sheridan, Sheridan's wife. However, it was discovered the ship didn't explode in an accident as reported many years ago but instead had landed on the planet of Z'ha'dum, homeworld of the Shadows. Morden became an agent for the Shadows and would make deals with Centauri Ambassador Londo Mollari that would get rid of the Narns and make the Centauri a great, proud race once again. When Mollari found out Morden was responsible for the death of his former love, Lady Adira, Mollari had him killed. Morden was played by actor Ed Wasser.
