The Paradox of America

The world is afraid of America. The USA is acting like an 800 pound gorilla with a pocket full of nukes, ignoring international laws and treaties, starting wars, invading countries and basically just going ahead and doing whatever it damn well pleases.

Sooner or later it is going to have to be curbed. And what would you do if you wanted to induce the disintegration and collapse of such a rogue state?

It would be useful to cause heightened and prolonged states of fear. Encourage paranoia and prejudice. Legitimize institutionalized racism. Encourage the disintegration of the family and social supports. It would be good to denigrate learning, destroy the environment and discourage independent thought. Cut funding to higher education and make sure that tuition fees become exorbitant. Encourage groupthink. Control the media, so that people are not exposed to critical thought. Encourage useless past times such as celebrity and gambling. Destroy the ordinary citizen's trust in good governance. Allow corporate malfeasance.

And that is the very paradox, because that is exactly what America is doing to itself. How can this be? Is this self destruction part of a historical process or what?

And more importantly, if and when the republic falls, how much of the world will it take with it? We need to begin to think about protecting ourselves from this eventuality.
